emilie’s view on confinement

what was your most difficult challenge
during lockdown?

The first challenge was to stop seeing my friends and family. I am used to seeing a lot of people, organising dinners and events. The second was to stay in the same place and not be able to travel. I am a very curious person who likes to discover new cultures, countries and people.

To overcome this, I have done many aperitifs with my family and friends, this has allowed me to stay close to them. Then, having to stay at home forced me to settle down, take time for myself and discover beautiful things close to home. The confinement allowed me to remain creative and curious despite the restrictions!

what is your most surprising/
funny anecdote during lockdown?

I took advantage of the confinement to discover new activities. I was able to discover a passion for racing bikes, have time to make new recipes, read new novels or even start watercolour painting. For me, finally, the most surprising anecdote of this confinement was to know how to take time to discover new things. I would never have discovered this outside of confinement because my agenda is always too busy.

what would you like to achieve
after confinement?

I would always like to remember the importance of taking time for the essential things. Before confinement, I didn't realize that I was constantly running at 100 per hour. Today, I take time every week to cook new recipes, read a book, do sports or even take advantage of a sunny weekend to go for a long bike ride. I can't wait to start travelling again but until then I'm enjoying the beautiful things around us!
